Nightingale

I have been Yanni's fan for some days now, and the piece of music called Nightingale has been my favourite. I always wanted to see what instruments are being played and who is playing them. Now I can, thanks to online video websites. Enjoy!

The Fountainhead

I finally finished reading Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. It was a heavy reading, and I need to read it again to really understand all of it. And its quite big, takes a long time to read. One the lighter side, check out these 2 songs from, as they say, the other side of the pond: Long Hot Summer (Girls Aloud), and Asereje (Las Ketchup). Don't ask where I pick up these, but both are catchy.

Into the west

That's a great song, which is played at the end of Lord of The Rings: Return of the King.

Lay down,
your sweet and weary head.
Night is falling.
You have come to journey’s end.

Sleep now,and dream

of the ones who came before.
They are calling,
from across the distant shore.

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see.
All of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms,
you’re only sleeping.

What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.

And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
All souls pass.

Hope fades,
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.

Don’t say,
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling.
You and I will meet again.
And you’ll be here in my arms,
Just sleeping.

What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.

And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
Grey ships pass
Into the West.

Of movies

In the last 2 weeks, I saw quite a few movies, some good, many bad. Lady In the Water was a disappointment considering M Night's previous movies. Golmaal has its funny moments, mostly PJ's, but otherwise it was very bad. Steve Martin in The Pink Panther was good, as was Peter Sellers in Revenge of the Pink Panther. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was also good, Superman Returns was ok, nothing special. Movies that have been getting good reviews and that I will probably end up watching are Omkara, and Talladega Nights.

Some biking

With the hiking plans I had fallen apart, I decided to take out the bike fore a ride. I went from my home to Landels elementary along Evelyn, and for the most part the road had a bike lane, plus the traffic wasn't much. Then onto Steven's creek trail, and back. About 17 miles. Not bad since I did that after many days.

ps: Here's a cool tool to fing your mileage: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com. For my trip, the map's here.
